What about this "gnomon stuff," starting on the first page of "The Sisters" and ending in "Grace?" Is it a "sun dial w/out the blade;" the house w/out a side; a "one armed" paralligram?

In The Dubliners gnomon is used to described incompleteness or "unwholeness".
