Why is it an example of irony that Valentine’s and Peter’s and Ender’s father admires Demosthenes?

One bit of irony can be found in the fact that Valentine's father quotes some of the passages that she hates most. Another irony can be found in the fact that the man he so admires is actually a child.... his own daughter.
