Philip Roth
Philip Milton Roth was born in the Weequahic neighborhood of Newark, New Jersey in 1933. His parents were both second-generation Eastern European immigrants, and he was raised in the Jewish faith. After graduating from Weequahic High School, Roth attended Rutgers University for one year.
