Evelina is a sentimental novel based on romanticism. Like the novels of Jane Austen, Evelina is a study of English society and barriers between classes. Evelina is a woman who is desireable in every way, but unfortunately isn't 'good' enough to move beyond her station. Regardless, she embodies what a woman is supposed to be, carries on like a 'lady,' and gains admirers at every level of society. She is later identified as the daughter of a Lord and marries the love of her life. Her new identity of course makes this possible.
