What is the tone of walker's story? By what means does the the author communicate it?
What is the tone of walker's story? By what means does the the author communicate it?
The tone for much of it is one of resignation and frustration. Mama knows what Dee is like and she knows what will happen when Dee returns. The author uses Mama's memories of Dee growing up to articulate Mama's feelings. The tone does change near the end of the story when Mama finally stands up to Dee. There is a sense of empowerment and even catharsis for Mama.
