Mama does not say very much but her internal voice says a lot. Externally Mama is to the point and simply states her thoughts. Mama is, however, full of anguish and regret over Dee's treatment of her and Maggie. Mama goes through a detailed fantasy of reconcilement with Dee on the Johnny Carson show. She articulates, using her inner voice, her life and how Dee came to be such a dominant and self-absorbed girl.
