Fahrenheit 451

Do you find any similarities with the current reality in the use of technology and media control?

The people in the “Fahrenheit 451” society sport “seashells” and “thimble radios,” which resemble earbuds and Bluetooth headsets.

The futuristic society are obsessed with the parlor walls which are essentially large, flat-screen televisions that we have today.

The mechanical hounds in the story could easily represent the drones that we have today that hunt down and kill people.

Children at school in the novel, are obsessed with technology but it is superficial and linked with state propaganda. Youth are dominated, in our world, by social media and big tech companies like Google, Instagram and Facebook.
