Did Beatty want to die? If so, Why?

In my opinion, yes, Beatty wanted to die. As Montag stood in front of him armed with a flamethrower, Beatty did nothing to save himself, he merely stood there, “not really trying to save himself . . . joking, [and] needling.” As an educated man, it might just be that Beatty was so disillusioned with his life that he no longer so a reason to live.
