Fahrenheit 451
How does the following quote relate to Montag's society? (Quote in Description)
"We must all be alike. Not everyone is born equal, as the Constitution says, but everyone is made equal." -Beatty (Page 58)
"We must all be alike. Not everyone is born equal, as the Constitution says, but everyone is made equal." -Beatty (Page 58)
In Montag's society everyone is the same. They're uneducated and detered from gaining an education. This is the reason for Beatty's comment, his defense of the fireman's job. Ironically, Beatty is well read and very intelligent. He certainly doesn't seem to practice what he preaches, which leads us to wonder if he believes in his own profession.
