In both Julius Caesar and Fahrenheit 451, there are unseen powers working to control the people of the city. Check out these parallels of characters for both works. Mildred tells Montag that brothers betray each other when they hide books. Faber critiques and predicts the times just like the jester offers commentary in Julius Caesar. Even Captain Beatty quotes Julius Caesar during his confrontation with Montag:
"What'll it be this time? Why don't you belch Shakespeare at me, you fumbling snob? 'There is no terror, Cassius, in your threats, for I am arm'd so strong in honesty that they pass by me as an idle wind, which I respect not!' How's that?"
