What are the reasons that Faber gives to Montag regarding the importance of books?

Faber says that Books reflect life, or at least the good ones do. Faber knows how books went out of fashion and he knows exactly what has been lost: he sees the soul of the state eroded until there is no wisdom or appreciation for anything of substance.
