Clarisse is special because she is different. She can hold a conversation, she is intelligent, she asks questions, she has educated herself, and she has a close family unit.

Clarisse is special in the context of Fahrenheit 451. She is more social, active, and inquisitive, but in our world, she is actually completely NORMAL. Unlike many others in the society, Clarisse is more inclined to think through problems and won't rush through them.

Clarisse is also way smarter than other people in the society. Others who are smart, like Beatty, work for the government and their corrupt ideology because he thinks that makes the people happy. Beatty is wrong because the people are happy on the outside, but subconsciously, they are toiling with themselves.

Clarisse reads books, like Montag, and comes to the conclusion that the government is brainwashing the people so that they will seem happy. Clarisse has the capacity to enjoy life, unlike many others.
