This question calls for your opinion. There is no right or wrong answer. In my opinion, the novel ends with Perry and Pee Wee's departure, which illustrates their mixed emotions amidst the excitement and fear of returning to the world they'd left behind. This ending is extremely satisfying, as most people believe that once the war is over.... the confusion and fear end, whereas, it's merely another beginning.
