Why did Papa burn the Japanese flag after the bombing of Pearl Harbor? What does the incident reveal about his fears? How realistic were those fears?

Father knew they would be seen as enemies or spies by the American government. Brining the flag made him at least look that he sided with the Americans. Unfortunately the government and most Americans could not look past his ethnicity.
