Papa chooses to stay in the west because it's his home. He sees himself as too old to start over again. He is araid of rejection.... to tired, and too proud to take the job of a common, factory worker.
As bad as the West Coast sounded, it was still his home territory. He was too old to start over, too afraid of rejection in an unknown part of the world, too stubborn and too tired to travel that far, and finally too proud to do piecework on an assembly line. .Houston, Jeanne Wakatsuki; Houston, James D..
