What do you notice about the language that the narrator uses? What message does this send to readers?

Anderson's language is informal and narrated from a teenager's point of view. He uses a large amount of slang, but he also uses a futurist slang.... one that he invents himself. Since the feed is in control of everything, most of the characters are illiterate, their language is simple and casual. No one has extensive vocabulary, except perhaps, for Violet and her father, as both of them are students of language. This, of course, makes them stand out, and rather than being looked up to, they are shunned by the community. The massage this send to the community..... would be the less you know the better, simply listen and allow others to do yout thinking for you. Not a message to be heeded.
