When Violet is gravely ill, Titus mostly ignores her messages. Why does he do this?

Titus lacks empathy due to the feed and the length of time he's had it. I don't believe he ignores her out out rudeness, I believe that he fails to acknowledge her messages because of ignorance. He is what the feed has created..... selfish and without compassion
