Why is Dunny reluctant to marry Diana?

While staying with Diana's parents over one Christmas, Dunstan and Diana finally confront the question of their future together. He admits that he cannot see himself with her, especially now that he has learned to walk with a prosthetic leg and will soon return to Canada. He doesn't see Diana fit into his post-war life.
