How does June Star and John Wesley represent the new south in "A Good Man is Hard to Find"?

Seven-year-old June Star (John Wesley’s sister) is loudmouthed and critical. Likewise, John Wesley, is Bailey’s eight-year-old son, complains a lot and is rude. Both children lack the manners and courteous behaviour expected of children in the old South.
