Flowers for Algernon

Flowers for Algernon is what's known as an epistolary novel, told in letters. Is this an effective technique for showing Charlies rise and decline? Why or why not? To whom do you think the letters and notes Charlie writes are written?

Charlie's progress reports illustrate his transformation. They establish a starting point, and after his operation, they serve to graph his intellectual improvements and eventual genius. The progress reports also show his quick decline.

Charlie begins his progress reports because Dr. Strauss advises him to.

Dr Strauss says I shoud rite down what I think and remembir and evrey thing that happins to me from now on. I dont no why but he says its importint so they will see if they can use me.
