What does the correspondence between Adams and Jefferson reveal about their different views of government?

The correspondence between Adams and Jefferson eventually became something of a debate between two separate ideals they believed in...... and these ideals were what had caused strife between the two since the beginning.

Adam's political beliefs supported a strong central government; Jefferson supported that the main political power be granted to individual states.

Adams believed government (and those serving as political representatives) should be in the hands of wise, well-educated men...... not in the hands of the general public.
