What steps did Hamilton and Burr take before the duel took place?

Hamilton put his affairs in order the evening before the duel by drafting a public statement, in which, he enclosed his last will and testament.. His statement noted he did not intend to fire at Burr during the duel. We are not made aware of Burr's actions prior to the meeting at Weehawken.
