What does Bacon mean from “passeth through the mind” in the essay “Of Truth”?

He means that a lie does not pass through the mind but rather sinks into the mind and festers there,  It is not the lie that passeth through the mind, but the lie that sinketh in and settleth in it ...

It means that, it is not the lie that passes through the mind, that hurts, but it is the lie that settles in the mind is the reason of hurt. In this Bacon means that, we are human so it is possible that we sometimes think of lying, but it is not the thought of that lie which hurts or does bad but the lie that sinks in or sattles there is harmful.
