Framed Narratives

Objective:

Students will be able to define the function of a literary device and interpret its effect on the reading.

Structure:

In this activity, students will discuss the meaning of a frame narrative and then include themselves in the frame by writing a letter to a friend about the story.

Have students define, discuss and share their own examples of frame narratives (or frame stories). Consider the following resource.
