Frankenstein's narration is for the most part a direct retelling of Victor's story by Robert Walton. We do see shifts here and there where Victor notes the creature's narrative or Elizabeth's point of view is seen through her letters (other voices come to us through letters as well). The effect of this is to make the narration far more personal than it would be had the entire story been told second hand.
