Monsters in popular culture are always representative of the "creator's" vision. For example, we have Edward Scissorhands, someone who deviates from the way normal humans appear. We have monsters in mythological tales such as the Kracken which is highly exaggerated and is actually a Norse monster rather than a Greek monster. We have monsters who look perfectly normal, but act in monstrous ways: serial killers, serial rapists, etc. And we have the monsters of all "horror" movies including those from Friday the 13th and others.
