Frankenstein

How does Mary Shelley reveal character in the novel? Do the characters change/evolve/grow? Is the character development believable? Can the characters follow any other path, other than the one the storyline takes them on?

Mary Shelley largely uses indirect presentation to reveal her characters. They are observed through what they say and do. Point of view shifts from Walton to Victor to the creature. We see the world through these unique vantage points. This gives us a more rounded view of characters and the world they inhabit.
