Frankenstein
In Frankenstein, is the pursuit of knowledge seen as a positive or a negative force? Why?
Frankenstein "pursuit of knowledge"
Frankenstein "pursuit of knowledge"
I think the pursuit of knowledge is seen primarily as destructive. Much of this has to do with Victor himself. He exceeds the bounds of man and like some Faustian bargain, he can't handle the fallout. Victor is mortal man with the emotional and spiritual inadequacies that man is prone to. Victor is not emotionally prepared for his creation, however hideous it is.
