What do you think is being foreshadowed at the end of Chapter 2 and beginning of Chapter 3?

At the end of Chapter Two, we see that Victor is preoccupied with thoughts of raising the dead, but he sets those thoughts aside to concentrate of mathematics. His mother's death, however, rekindles those thoughts, foreshadowing his study of Natural Philosophy, and his attempts to create life.
