Victor doesn't want anything to do with his hideous creation. Victor rebukes the monster and disowns himself of any responsibility. The creature really is a metaphor of a child reaching out to a parent or, in this case, God (his creator). The Monster does not know what else to do. It is his instinct which calls for his creator. Shelly sets this up on purpose; it is a metaphor of man reaching out to his own God/maker for answers and guidance. Instead of a caring response, the only thing the creature gets is scorn and rebuke.
