What does lightning symbolize and what are some examples directly from the book?

The image that comes to mind is the opening scene of the tree being burnt by lightning. Here lightning represents the destruction/creation dichotomy. Just as the tree once grew the lightening destroys it, this is the natural order of things. The same goes on between Victor and his monster as Victor creates from destruction. As you can see it is reversed in this case and not the natural order of things.
