Frankenstein
what is ironic about the creatures physical apperance
Frankenstein chapter 5 and6
Frankenstein chapter 5 and6
Victor supposedly fashioned the monster after the Biblical Adam. The creature ends up having an enormous frame and grotesque appearance. Everything is exaggerated and certainly not the picture of a perfect Judao-Christian Adam.
Throughout the building, Victor sees his creature as beautiful. As soon as it comes to life, he sees it as hideous. This is not what a parent does; a parent loves even the bloody mushed-up face of a newborn baby. Even homely children are loved by their parents, not repulsive to them.
Also, Victor is trying to be like God in creating a new species. God created man in His own image. Victor created the creature in . . . well, it's not pretty, but it is really his own image--hideous to all.
