Frankenstein chapter 5 and 6
Frankenstein chapter 5 and 6
I think by "romantic" we are referring to a sense of passion, individualism and imagination that Victor endows his creature with. Mary Shelly was a Romantic. Characteristics of a Romantic are the use of imagination, passion, individualism, nature, and excess in the arts to make a point. The Creature in Mary Shelly’s, Frankenstein is of the imagination for the imagination. Victor, the creator of the creature, is haunted by his conscience through use of his imagination. Much as a reader, haunted by his conscience, will use his imagination to determine his/her interpretation of the metaphor of the meaning of the creature.
