Frankenstein
Why does Victor feel that he should not create a female companion?
chapter 17
chapter 17
Victor feels that even with a companion, the monster will return seeking kindness, which he will not receive. He knows that the rejection will be twofold and tells the monster that he would thus be aided in his destruction.
How can you, who long for the love and sympathy of man, persevere in this exile? You will return and again seek their kindness, and you will meet with their detestation; your evil passions will be renewed, and you will then have a companion to aid you in the task of destruction.
