Why do Odessans hate Midland Lee?

Midland seems to have everything that Odessa does not. Midland is middle class and white. They have money, respect and an easier time of things while Odessa is ethnically diverse, poor and looked down on. Odessa has to fight tooth and nail for everything they get.
