Gattaca

How is the theme control portrayed in both the handmaids tale and Gattaca?

Tell me how control is presented or shown in both texts.

Although both selections are dystopias, control is certainly more autocratic and subversive in Atwood's Handmaid's tale. Women have lost all control over their own bodies and only men in power are given the chance to procreate. In Gattaca, genetic engineering is the preferred course of reproduction. People born naturally are looked down upon. The state controls reproduction and "normal birthed" people are made to do menial labour.
