Great Expectations
does pip succeed in providing a "diversion" for Miss Havisham? How? or why not?
chapter 8 of great expectations
chapter 8 of great expectations
I suppose most anything would be a diversion for an old lady wearing a faded wedding dress who surrounds herself with clocks stopped at twenty minutes to nine. Pip is pretty entertaining to her, especially when she orders Estella to play cards with Pip. Perhaps she enjoyed Estella belittling Pip about his social class or perhaps this was the most entertainment she had since her wedding. In any case it would seem that Pip is a suitable diversion for her because he is invited back.
this book is so confusing to me and you are very helpful! thanks!! :)
