Great Expectations??

I'm not sure what chapter or event you're referring to, but while in London with Estella, Pip is extremely envious of the suitors courting Estella. He gets to spend time with her and acts as her escort, but he is never so much as considered anything more. Thus, he envies the suitors, even though Estella treats them terribly. (Chapter 38)
