Great Expectations

Pip is visiting his parents' graves, where he sits crying. Suddenly, the convict yells at him, telling him to stop crying or have his throat slit. The convict then grabs Pip, shakes him, empties his pockets, takes his bread and promptly begins to eat it. He tells Pip that if he values his life, he will go home, steal a file from Joe's forge, and bring him the file and additional food. Pip promises to return with the items the next morning.

At first Pip was a poor common boy who only thought about the food that will enter his mouth during the day by the time he started to develop his character as to be poor but having heart and feelings as showed when he went to miss Havisham and spent the day then when Estella took him to feed him and threw the food for him he started to cry because he felt that he is treated as an animal (a dog) and he barely stopped crying after she returned to him so at this stage his expectations started to change from only thinking about food into thinking about feelings and way of treatment then after Mr. Jaggers came and told him about traveling to London for completing his education he started to develop his character more and more as to be a gentleman so his expectations changed here to being a real gentleman instead of being a common boy and he completed his way of development of his character during chapters untill he was a real gentleman.
