Great Expectations
How does Dickens use setting in the novel, specifically between the marsh country where Pip lives as a boy, Miss Havisham's Satis House, and London?

The different settings are used to move the plot, and also to reflect Pip's circumstances. His life began on the marshes; his dream of becoming a gentleman began at Satis House; London marked his transformation; the return to Satis House brought him full circle.
