Miss Havisham's view of love is that it is a destructive force and should be used to manipulate and inflict pain. This view was learned and caused by her own experiences, and her actions in the novel are a direct result of those experiences. She is looking to ease her own pain by replicating those feelings in others.

"Love her, love her, love her! If she favours you, love her. If she wounds you, love her. If she tears your heart to pieces—and as it gets older and stronger, it will tear deeper—love her, love her, love her!" (Chapter 29)
