Great Expectations
What is the effect of his candle going out? What does the candle symbolize?
Ch 53
Ch 53
This is the creepy scene when Pip is lured into the sluice-house where he’s supposed to meet the anonymous letter-writer. Pip gets in sees a candle but it is extinguished by somebody in the darkness. I suppose the candle could symbolize Pip's brief life before Orlick plans to kill him.
