Who is Mrs. Joe Gargery? HOw does she treat Pip and Joe? Justify with reason?

Mrs. Joe Gargery is a bitter, angry woman who brings up Pip "by hand." That is, she whips him whenever she can and complains about what a burden he is while she does it. She is not much better with Joe. There is a soft spot in her but she masks it with her authority and practical ways. Mrs. Joe is a survivor and her temperament is a result of having to survive with very little.
