As Pip changes from boy to man, the reader is afforded the opportunity to really get to know Pip. Pip is our narrator and, although he has flaws, is not manipulative or evil. He is sincere and pretty reliable. Even through his illusions of becoming a gentleman we can see Pip maturing from his successes and mistakes. Pip is sincere even when his actions are questionable.
