Grendel
How does the dragon's mind differ from Grendel's and from men's ?
Grendel, chapter 5
Grendel, chapter 5
The dragon's mind differs from Grendel's because he believes that Grendel has the potential to gain more than what he has right now by using his power and so-called privileges, whereas Grendel is reluctant and skeptical about the dragon's advice. Grendel questions, "Why is it fiddlesticks if I stop giving people heart attacks over nothing? Why shouldn't one change one's ways, improve one's character?" (p.72) From Dragon’s view he thinks that Grendel is a lower creature than him and what Grendel’s reaction are to the dragon seems just like the reaction of humans to Grendel.
