Grendel

How is the death of the Shaper in Chapter 10 symbolic of Grendel's relationship with the rest of the World?

Think about the early musing of the Shaper and how grendel reacted to those, compared to how little we see the Shaper in the previous few chapters and grendel's current views on humanity.

The Shaper claims Grendel is a descendant of Cain; he shaped lives and history the way he wanted their histories written. With his death, Grendel comes to understand that the past doesn't matter...... that the only thing Grendel needed to worry about was his presence in the present.
