How did the 3 men prepare an Irish stew for lunch?

The men gathered wood, made a fire, peeled and scaped potatoes (badly), added more unpeeled potatoes, put in cabbage and peas, and then believing there wasn't enough on the pot preceeded to add all of the leftovers in their hampers. These leftovers included half a pork pie, boiled bacon, a few eggs, and some salmon. It's hard to believe, but the end result was described as delicious.
