Hamlet

1. Why does Hamlet fail to take action against Claudius when he has the opportunity, after he observes the King’s reaction to the play? What was Claudius doing? What does Hamlet’s inaction have to do with what the Ghost told him?

Please go into detail. If someone could use quotes directly from Hamlet to help me understand what is happening, that would be amazing. Thank you.

Claudius is troubled by the play and withdraws from the room to pray for forgiveness. When Hamlet finds him, he has the opportunity to take his revenge, but he refrains from doing so, as killing Claudius at that moment would have afforded him a blessed death..... death at a time when he seeks redemption.
