Hamlet

Act 1, Sc. 4, lines 66-70: Explain Hamlet's motive

Horatio: Do not, my lord.

Hamlet: Why, what should be the fear? I do not set my life at pin's fee. And for my soul, what can it do to that, Being a thing immortal as itself? It waves me forth again. I'll follow it.

Hamlet's friends do not want Hamlet to follow the ghost. They think the ghost may take another form and hurt Hamlet. Hamlet explains that he does not live his life safely in ignorance. He says he must follow the ghost. He questions what the ghost can actually do to him, being a spirit. Hamlet must know what the ghost wants.
