Hamlet

Act 1, Sc. 5, lines 85-89: What does the Ghost ask Hamlet to do about his mother?

Ghost: But, howsomever thou pursues this act,

Taint not thy mind, nor let thy soul contrive

Against thy mother aught. Leave her to heaven

And to those thorns that in her bosom lodge

To prick and sting her. Fare thee well at once.

The King asks that Hamlet do nothing about the Queen, his mothers. He tells Hamlet not to harm his mother, but rather leave her to her own conscience.... and to leave her fate to God.

Taint not thy mind, nor let thy soul contrive Against thy mother aught. Leave her to heaven And to those thorns that in her bosom lodge To prick and sting her.
